SailStep makes docking easy: No hazardous jumping!

+ Rock-solid for use in motion, unlike other ladders.

SailStep is the only rigid boarding ladder for aluminum toe-rails. There are three alternative products on the market, the Edson One Step, the Doyle QuickStep, and the Fender Step. They’re all rope ladders, and they’re inherently unstable.

Honestly, we’d have bought the ideal boarding ladder, if it existed. Instead, we ended up building a series of prototypes, culminating in what you see here. We’re proud of our results. With rigid aluminum risers, and a sturdy welded construction, SailStep is absolutely rock-solid for use in motion.

+ Crew can walk the boat out of the slip, and step aboard.

With a cross breeze, or a bit of current, pulling out of a slip can be tricky. With SailStep, experienced crew can help walk your boat out, and step aboard effortlessly, with dock lines in hand. Protect your investment; even a small gouge in your gelcoat is a costly mistake….

+ On approach, step off effortlessly with dock lines in hand.

Our knees make our freeboard feel a bit higher every year. Our first prototype was built to keep the inventor’s wife from making that harried jump from deck to dock (she’s the model in our photos, and SailStep’s biggest fan). We’re sure your crew will love SailStep too.

+ Specially designed to clear all dock hardware.

SailStep is designed high, to pass over standard dock equipment, like cleats and dock wheels. Please survey your dock to assure it’s free of obstacles before use.

We can guarantee SailStep’s strength and construction, but only you can guarantee its safe use.

SailStep makes dock-to-deck boarding effortless: Step Aboard!

+ Stable and intuitive, moves in synchrony with the boat.

Climbing to height on dock steps actually amplifies dock movement. And then, you step onto a rocking boat. We’ve all seen our friends pause at this juncture; stepping between two independently moving objects feels unnatural.

We designed SailStep to put the interface at the very first step, creating a stable and intuitive experience. The athletically inclined will step on or off in two easy steps, bypassing the top step. More cautious guests may choose to climb on and off facing the ladder. SailStep has been used by folks age 4 to 97!

+ Sturdy and compact design, ideal for travel and stowage.

Freedom is the essence of sailing. But for travel, the typical boarding devices are folding ladders and rope ladders. We’ve tried them, and frankly, we’re not fans.

SailStep folds small enough to fit in a briefcase, and at 4.7 pounds it’s often lighter than our usual workload. But when it’s time to play, leave work behind; explore the distant ports you’ve dreamed of!

+ Secures to your slotted aluminum toe-rail with a single pin.

Deploying and stowing SailStep is clear, even to new users, and the retaining pin can be installed from dockside, or from on board. SailStep is designed to pass over standard dock hardware, for use in docking and casting off.

Experienced crew can walk your boat out of the slip, and effortlessly step aboard. On approach, your crew can step off with dock lines in hand. No hazardous jumping required!

+ Replaces dock steps & ladders, for travel, and at home port.

Particularly on a breezy day, a cluttered dock can make docking and casting off unnecessarily difficult. SailStep frees up your dock space, and helps assure a timely tie.

We, too, used plastic dock steps for many years. It was hard to discard our tired, but still serviceable plastic steps, so we gave them a new home,… to folks with a motorboat. They couldn’t be happier, and neither could we!
